Clean The Air You Breathe...  Eliminate Allergens...

Why use Bio-Fighter® UV Light system?

AC coil with many common household pollutants
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warns that the air inside your home may be up to five times more polluted than outside air. The EPA has listed indoor air quality (IAQ) as one of the top five environmental health risks today!

Considering most people spend the majority of their time inside their homes, this can be a frightening statistic.

Many unseen bio-hazards can live and breed within your air conditioning system’s moist environment, encouraging micro-organisms to breed, multiply and grow.  Microscopic mold, mildew, yeast, bacteria and viruses linger in the air leading to allergies, asthma, respiratory disease and infection.  Once airborne these unseen particles can pose a serious health threat.

These micro-organisms travel through and can get trapped in the moist environment of your air conditioning system. Bacteria can then breed and spread throughout your home.

Bio-Fighter® UV Light system, when properly integrated into an HVAC system, attacks and sterilizes micro-organisms where they live and breed in your air conditioning system. The system filters and purifies the air that moves through your home, improving the quality of the air you breathe.

This becomes an effective method for preventing indoor air contamination from spreading throughout your home and living in the air you breath every day.

What is UV Light?

Ultraviolet light is that portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that lies beyond the “purple” edge of the visible spectrum and has wavelengths between 100 and 400 NM.

The UVA range causes “sun tanning” in the human skin. The UVB range causes “sun burning”. The UVC range is dangerous to human skin but is also the range that is most effective in controlling airborne bacteria and viruses.
The “germicidal range” of the UV spectrum is approximately 200 – 300 NM, with a peak germicidal effectiveness at 254 NM.

When installed, used & maintained properly, use of Bio-Fighter® UV Light system can decrease the concentration of germs and other contaminates on surfaces within your HVAC system by up to 99%.

How much maintenance is required on a UV light product?

Lamps should be cleaned by a professional every six (6) months to remove any dust accumulation on the bulbs that might lessen the effectiveness of the UV-C light. The Dust Free UV-C light bulbs have a service life of 9,000 hours, or approximately 375 days. Annual replacement of the bulb(s) is recommended. Bio-Fighter® UV-C units should be left on continuously as turning them on and off ages the bulbs and power supplies. And each tube only uses approximately the same electricity as a 40-watt light bulb.
